All students have access to digital devices at our Kura. Chromebooks and iPads are tools used to support learning along with old-school tools such as books!
Generally, our Year 5 & 6 students have their own school suppiled Chromebook that remains at school. These devices are used via the students individual Google account. Year 5 & 6 students also use pencils and pens and write in their books.
Our Year 1-4 students have access to school-owned iPads to support their learning. Apps are installed on the iPads and there is no open access to the internet. All apps are managed and controlled by our staff.
We are not a BYOD (Bring your own device) school and have no plans to become one in the near future. We do not want access to devices to become a barrier for learning.
Students that bring mobile phones to school are asked to switch them off and hand them in at the Office. They have no need for them in class as devices that are needed to support learning are supplied.
Safety in the online environment is really important and something we take very seriously - please see our Internet safety Protocols page.
