Meet Your Board of Trustees

Amarnda Nicholson - Chairperson and Parent Representative

Amarnda has been associated with Selwyn School for eight years, and is into her sixth year on the BOT. She has one child in Year 5 at Selwyn School, and the oldest has moved off to intermediate school.

The skills Amarnda brings with her include a working knowledge of policies and procedures, audits, reviews, management systems and organisational structures. She also has experience of complaint management, surveys, continuous improvement, and cost and data analysis. She has a particular interest in Learning Disabilities, Learning Styles and education of boys.

By being on the Board of Trustees, Armanda hopes that she can support the staff of Selwyn School, ensure that all children achieve to the best of their ability and those children and families make the most of their time at Selwyn.

Colleen Roberts - Treasurer and Staff Representative

Colleen has been involved with Selwyn School since 1992. Her three sons and daughter were taught at Selwyn School.She has been a member of staff at Selwyn since 2000.

Colleen's skills include previous employment in the banking industry and a staff perspective as a teacher and Team Leader.

Rob Allen - Property and Maintenance and Parent Representative

Rob is a long serving member of the BOT. He has had four out of seven children educated at Selwyn School.

Rob is proud of the impact Selwyn School is having within the community and the potential reached by students.

Tony Pope - Principal

Tony has been with Selwyn since 1988 and has served as a Board Member since 1990 when Boards of Trustees began.

He continues to value the way in which staff and Board members focus on the needs of children at Selwyn School.

Shan Tapsell - Secretary and Parent Representative

Shan is proud to be a former pupil of Selwyn School and Western Heights High School. She is of Ngati Whakaue descent. She has four sons, the oldest is in the Army, two are at WHHS and the youngest, Kuratea is in Year 6 at Selwyn School.

Shan works at the Lakes District Health Board as the Assistant Communications Officer. She says she is excited by the opportunities that education offers people in our community to reach their potential and realise their dreams and is committed to ensuring Selwyn School captures those opportunities.

Hugh Mareroa - Community Liaison and Parent Representative

Hugh is a former teacher at Selwyn School. He has had three children educated at Selwyn and has one child currently attending. He has been on the BOT for seven years.

His teaching and education background provide a valuable contribution to our board.
