What parent groups operate in our school?

There are three groups which work in our school
The BOARD OF TRUSTEES (BOT) is made up of five elected parent representatives, an elected Staff representative and the Principal.
The Board has overall authority in the school and manages a budget of up to $800,000.00 each year. It delegates day to day running of the school to the Principal but holds responsibility for the strategic direction of the school, maintaining the buildings, grounds, all the hiring of permanent staff as well as ensuring that childrens learning needs are met.
The Board meets monthly and meetings are open to the public. You can find out more about the BOT members at our Board of Trustees page.
The FRIENDS OF THE SCHOOL is made up of interested parents and staff members who organise events and fundraise for school projects. FOTS has been responsible for raising nearly $130,000.00 since 1990. All of this money has been spent on projects of direct benefit to our students. FOTS usually meet once a month and warmly welcome new members at any time.
The WHANAU GROUP is made up of parents and staff who have a special interest in the Maori language classes. This group meets on a "needs" basis and provides practical support and care to all students at Selwyn Primary.
